BPG Annual Meeting 2015
For a few years now, the Belgian Polymer Group is working on a dynamic and younger image. Maybe a bit symbolic, the Ol Fosse d´Outh Resort was under reconstruction itself.
With almost 220 participants from both industry and academia the 21th Annual Meeting was a big success, demonstrating that the new BPG is getting alive and kicking.
The scientific part of the meeting was a mix of young Belgian polymer scientists, presenting their work both in oral plenary lectures and posters, covering all trends in contemporary polymer science, and invited lectures by internationally renowned speakers.
- Prof. Dr. Richard A. Gross (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute)
- Prof. Dr. Pierre Gaspard (Université Libre de Bruxelles)
- Prof. Dr. Jean-François Lutz (Institut Charles Sadron)
- Dr. Johan Loccufier (Agfa Gevaert N.V.)
The scientific program consisted of the four invited lectures as well as 17 oral contributions from younger scientists. Furthermore, the poster session was of very high standards and comprised 108 poster presentations. The two best oral contributions and four best poster contributions were awarded and the two best PhD theses from last year were presented and awarded as part of the conference.
In parallel with the poster session, again a small career event was organized in which the younger scientists could talk to the industry and gain information on career possibilities within industry. This was a highly appreciated part of the program for both the younger scientists and the industrial participants.
The 21thAnnual Meeting was highly appreciated by all participants as illustrated above with a small impression of the scientific and non-scientific moments during the meeting.back to overview
